Sandwich panel is the latest innovation in the field of plywood by Borotik R&D Team. The product is a macroscopic combination of ordinary plywood and HDHMR panels arranged in a specific pattern so that the final product is able to have the advantages of both the constituent materials while minimizing their shortcomings. The ordinary plywood is made up of alternating layers of hardwood and softwood plies arranged in a crossed manner so as to impart more uniform material properties than seen in
solid timber. Each ply is having a thickness of 2 mm while its cross sectional dimensions can be
varied as per the equipment capability and customer requirement. Two thin strips of HDHMR
are glued to both faces of this ordinary plywood using suitable adhesives. Each HDHMR strip is
having a thickness of 3mm. This is done so as to make the sandwich panel moisture resistant
and prevent it from excessive warpage and distortion during the course of its life.
